The “PECB Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Auditor” exam aligns with the requirements of the PECB Examination and Certification Program (ECP). It evaluates competency in the following domains:

Domain 2: Requirements for an AI management system
Domain 3: Core audit concepts and principles
Domain 4: Preparation for an ISO/IEC 42001 audit
Domain 5: Conducting an ISO/IEC 42001 audit

Certification
PECB ISO/IEC 42001 Certification Path and Requirements
Upon successfully passing the exam, you may apply for one of four professional credentials based on your experience level. All credentials require passing the PECB Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Auditor Exam (or an approved equivalent) and signing the PECB Code of Ethics.
1. Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Provisional Auditor
Suitable for newcomers who have acquired theoretical knowledge but lack practical auditing or industry experience.

2. Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Auditor
Designed for professionals with foundational experience in AI management and auditing.

Professional Experience: Two years total, including at least one year in Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Management System Audit Experience: A minimum of 200 hours of qualifying audit activities

3. Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Auditor
The standard credential for experienced professionals qualified to plan, lead, and manage AI management system audit teams.

Professional Experience: Five years total, including at least two years in Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Management System Audit Experience: A minimum of 300 hours of qualifying audit activities

4. Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Senior Lead Auditor
The highest tier for expert practitioners with extensive, long-term leadership experience in auditing AI frameworks.

Exam Requirement: Pass the PECB Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Auditor Exam (or equivalent)

Professional Experience: Ten years total, including at least seven years in Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Management System Audit Experience: A minimum of 1,000 hours of qualifying audit activities

Additional Requirement: Sign the PECB Code of Ethics
Note on Qualifying Audit Activities: To be recognized by PECB, your audit hours must adhere to best practices and should include activities such as audit planning, program management, drafting audit or nonconformity reports, conducting on-site audits, and leading audit teams.
General
- Training, certification, and examination fees are included in the course price.
- Participants receive course materials comprising over 450 pages of explanatory content, examples, best practices, exercises, and quizzes.
- A completion certificate valued at 31 CPD (Continuing Professional Development) credits is issued to those who attend the training.
- Candidates who do not pass the exam may retake it at no cost within 12 months of their initial attempt.
